The antidote for disappointment is to still give your all, while having no expectations of the other party, and at the same time not allowing that party to take advantage of you. Give 100%; expect 0%; yet receive 100% gratification for doing something you are "led" to do. Be sure that it is something you "want" to do and not something you feel "forced" to do.
